Job Title: Dog Trainer - General Obedience & Behaviour Specialist

Role Overview: We are looking for a passionate, dedicated, and confident Dog Trainer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have at least one year of hands-on experience in dog training and behaviour management, with a strong understanding of positive reinforcement methods. As a member of our team, you will work with a wide variety of dogs, focusing on building confidence in reactive and nervous dogs, as well as teaching general obedience.

Key Responsibilities:
• Conduct one-on-one training sessions for dogs of various breeds and temperaments, focusing on obedience and behaviour modification.
• Specialise in working with reactive and nervous dogs, using confidence-building techniques to address behavioural issues.
• Design and implement customised training plans based on individual dog needs and client goals.
• Provide guidance to dog owners, educating them on how to support and reinforce positive behaviour at home.
• Ensure all training methods align with the company’s philosophy of positive reinforcement and non adversive techniques.
• Monitor progress and adjust training plans as needed to achieve desired results.
• Maintain professional, positive relationships with clients, offering ongoing support and advice.
• Ensure a safe and comfortable environment for both dogs and owners during sessions.

Required Qualifications:
• At least 1 year of experience working directly with dogs in a training or behaviour management capacity.
• Strong understanding and practical experience in positive reinforcement training methods.
• Confidence and patience in handling a wide variety of dogs, including reactive and nervous animals.
• A deep commitment to using kind, ethical, and non-adversive training techniques.
• Ability to remain calm and professional in challenging situations, especially with dogs exhibiting behavioural issues.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain training concepts to dog owners clearly.
• A genuine passion for improving the lives of dogs and their families.
• Flexibility to work with dogs of different breeds, sizes, and temperaments.

Desirable Skills:
• Experience with reactive dog behaviour modification and fear-based issues.
• Certification in dog training or behaviour (e.g., from reputable organisations like the IMDT or APDT) is a plus but not essential.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
• Previous experience working with nervous or anxious dogs in a training environment.
